A quick little rant about generative text AI 25-10-25

Now Image gen is it's own cup of bullshit but currently I only wanna focus on one awful thing. I could also talk about the very real environmental impact from this tech, or I could talk about people choosing to give themselves by having every single little thing in the exact format they want it in. I think the issue with generative text AI is much more about how it fundementally works. These chatbots don't search the web when they generate anything. They let out whatever string of letters and punctuation is most common based on whatever the input was. It's understanding of the whole world consists of text and the relationships between text represented through percentages and groupings. People were saying just a few years ago that not everything on the internet is true but suddenly when that same info is being pumped through a chatbot they think it's absolute fact. Somehow people believe these bots more than they believe the words that came from Helen Keller. Even though she could experience the true world much more than these text-based brains, masses of people who would doubt her existence put faith in these bots because they amount it's processes to magic. They don't understand it and we must be in the future so of course the bot works perfectly. Of course everytime google's ai says "a reddit user suggests killing yourself" to anything, it's always just a funny situation. These goofy failures of these systems in no way show how incapable it is at saying anything correctly. So let's just trust it with giving info that we don't know and have faith in it always being right. Because you wouldn't be able to tell whether it's right or wrong anyways.

I've seen people post online about how jackrabbits are predators because chatgpt told them so. Jackrabbits aren't predators at all. But people believe it because the all knowing techno-messiah told them so. chatgpt relays this info from a running joke of ranchers online. One posts newborn anything, people comment "bring em in before the jackrabbits eat it whole!" Non-ranchers ask if it's true and ranchers always double down. With that there is much more text online saying jackrabbits are predators than jackrabbits who are not. So despite what people really try to say about some deep 'logic' inside of it, chatgpt still brings out buffoon level ideas like that. And when it's whole purpose is supplying info, why would anyone use it when it has any sort of capability of being wrong? The ads aren't even good at showing a good usecase for their own product. It will forever baffle me how we got to this point where so much money has been put into this shit. Are the old investors thinking they're going to get some nice version of HAL 9000 out of this? Do the programers think they're going to get their own Cortana, complete with jacking off features? How did Boston Dynamics not get this crazy level of support when it could actually aid society better? My recent playthrough of MGS2 just makes it feel like bot farms are the main goal. That and whatever Elon Musk is doing with his sexting, eerily similar to his ex, chat bot.

I Should trying blogging out my thoughts more! 17-10-25

So I've been making a couple blinkies recently. The stuff that I really love has no blinkies easily findable online so I'm hoping to add lots of fun niche shit. Blinkie making a great way to learn bits of aseprite without having to worry much about the fundementals of pixel art. it sits right in that middle ground of low resolution art where its not like I am super restricted with space (although some logos straight up don't fit in the blinkie aspect ratio) and its not too high where it just feels like regular drawing. I think it would be super fun to use Aseprite more as an image editor since I adore grimey, low resolution imagery. I've already used dither.it lots for that exact thing, maybe Aseprite while allow me more control and space to goof around :)

In other news, I got into Homestuck lmao. I've always had a slight interest in it from the outside but was daunted by it's size. But the Homestuck animated pilot came out and I decided nows the best time to read it out of spite for Vivziepop. I've already finished the third act, I did not expect to fly through it all so fast. I also did not expect time travel and a multidimensional fight against good and evil to be at the centre of the plot. Also I might be crazy but the crazy tech brought about by sburb and sburb itself has to have been made by one of the four main kids. Like they introduce time travel and then almost immediately confirms self fulfilling time loop shit through Jade. Plus one of the characters saying this tech was built by an ectobiologist? Like John's username? I'm sure shit just like my rant have probably been written years ago already but I need to put this down since I've been quarintining myself from all homestuck content.
